AFTERCARE

Understanding the healing process of your PMU eyebrows is crucial for proper care and achieving the best results. Below is a week-by-week guide, including the specific phases of healing.

Week 1: Immediate Aftercare and Initial Healing
  • Day 1-2: The color of your eyebrows will be 20-40% darker than the final result. Swelling, slight bruising, redness, and discomfort may occur but will subside. Apply a balm like Aquaphor for moisturization but avoid touching the area otherwise.
  • Day 3-7: The outer skin begins to heal, and exfoliation starts, causing the top layers of skin and excess pigment to flake away. The area may itch, but avoid scratching; lightly tap around the area instead. The color may appear gray during this phase. Continue applying the balm as directed.
Week 2: Flaking Continuation and Color Adjustments
  • Day 8-10: The final stages of flaking occur. Continue to apply balm until day 14. The color may look gray, light, or spotty and might temporarily disappear, only to reappear later.
  • Day 11-14: The skin begins to regain its typical characteristics, with the healing process becoming less noticeable.
Week 3: Inner Skin Healing
  • During this week, the inner layers of the skin begin healing, leading to the reappearance or enhancement of color if it previously appeared to disappear or look gray, light, and patchy. Color and strokes start to soften, indicating the healing progression.
Week 4-8: Final Stages of Healing and Touch-Up Preparation
  • The healing of the inner skin reaches its final stages, with the color and strokes continuing to soften. This period is crucial for observing the true outcomes of the PMU procedure and scheduling a touch-up if necessary.
Phases of Healing
  • Hemostasis (Day 1): The immediate response to the procedure, involving blood clotting.
  • Inflammation (Day 1-10): Body’s response to heal, involving swelling, redness, and discomfort.
  • Proliferation (Week 1-6): The phase where the skin rebuilds itself, creating new tissue and the outer layer starts to heal.
  • Remodeling (Week 4+): The final phase, where the deeper layers of the skin continue to heal and mature, leading to the full establishment of the pigment.
